2. Painting is not an option, painting tiles or grid can change your fire rating and cause problems for you with your insurance and painting will cover the holes and that is what makes them acoustic in the first place.

To the left is a Gyspum Board that had a vinyl
coating we removed from a restaurant, what you see is the side that faced
away from everyone and no one knew how bad it was getting until it was taken
down. The other side still looked good, and as far as the restaurant was
concerned based on the side they could see the was still good. Health
department on the other hand did not agree. Most tiles other than PVC
will grow mold and water damage as this one has and that means they have to
be replaced often. What can cause mold and
water damage is roof leaks, pipe leaks or A/C Condensation. |
